Flag of German language by hosmich Flag of German language by hosmich
This flag is ugly. It is based on similar flags: this, this and this. All four flags have symbol of Switzerland in the middle. But Switzerland is neither geographic nor linguistic center of German language, Germany is. So I created this flag with German cross in the middle. The downloadable file is a ZIP that contains two more flags. They are based on this fusion of Germany and Austria with addition of Switzerland. This is the best of MY flags of German language, the black cross is old German and Austrian symbol and red-white is used by Council for German Ortography instead of Hohenstauf's black-red-yellow. Unlike here Bavaria is not represented, but it is OK.

You can also use black-red-gold, because they´re the great german colours, the small german ones are the ones from the 2. Reich.

I consider white rather than gold the color of German language. Gold is too associated with Berlin-based country, but white is on Austrian, Swiss, even Luxembourgish flag. Surely black-red-gold are Great German and black-white-red Small German colors? I thought it was the other way. Black-white-red was even merger of modern German and Austrian flags in my eyes. But if you want to add gold to symbol of German language, I can tell you my idea: red Iron Cross with golden Swiss Cross inside. Not too German, not too Swiss, thus good for Austrians. Black border would say it is still "Iron Cross".

Hm but I think you don´t have to add the symbols and colours of 10 different german states,
just do one clear and simple symbol, it could look better.

Well when the 2. Reich was created 1871, they had the colours black-white-red, without Austria
so it was small Germany.

Black-White-Red has nothing to do with Austria historically.

Black-White: Prussia
White-Red: 'Freie Hansestädte'

Merging these two flags makes black-white-red.

Possible interpretation of cross: there are four users of German language - Germany, Austria, Switzerland and rest of world.
